Under the Water Quality Infrastructure Program (WQIP), ECE under contract to Brinjac Engineering, Inc. provided professional services for monitoring construction projects in the Eastern Shore Region of Maryland.

ECE activities included monitoring of construction projects related to water and wastewater treatment plants, attend project construction progress meetings, prepare and submit “Construction Monitoring Report” to WQIP on a monthly basis, submit the timesheet and breakdown of cost which identifies the associated task performed to WQIP on a monthly basis, and prepare and submit the projected monitoring activities for the following month to WQIP.

Under this contract, ECE performed monitoring activities at: Chestertown WWTP during the BNR improvement construction, St. Michaels Pump Station 1 & 2, and St. Michaels Force Main. Summary of construction activities at each of the site is provided below.

 

Chestertown WWTP (BNR) Improvements

• Construction of Clarifiers Nos.: 1 & 2
• Construction of Denitrification Filter Tank
• Construction of Aeration Basins
• Installation of Silt fence
• Dewatering
• Construction of Operations Building
• Construction of Headworks
• Installation of UV units 1 & 2
• Installation of Filter Cones
• Construction of Chlorine contact tank
• Masonry Work
• Underground piping for ENR Building

 

St. Michaels Pump Station 1 & 2

• Installation of submersible dry pit sewage pump, sewage grinder and valves, etc
• Installation of odor control system
• Electrical gear motor control center
• Installation of by-pass pump
• Electrical stand-by generator

 

 

 

 


St. Michaels WWTP Upgrade

• Demolition of existing primary/final clarifiers
• Installation of dewatering system
• Construction of oxidation ditches, flow distribution box, flow equalization tank, clarifiers, headwork, grit /flow box, etc
• Installation of processing piping, equipment and pumps, UV systems, filtration and aeration equipment, submersible mixers, odor control system, pumping systems, etc
• Electrical work: stand-by generator

 


St. Michaels Force Main

• Installation of 6380 feet of 6-inch and 8 –in diameter pipes
• Installation of air release valves
• Installation of dewatering system
