HYDRAULIC AND HYDROLOGIC MODELING
ECE has experience using different computer software such as MOUSE, InfoWorks, EPA SWMM in modeling wastewater and water projects. Our capabilities in modeling encompass sewer, stormwater, river hydraulics and water quality. We provide modeling services to assist clients in the development of computer models for study and improvement of combined sewer overflow (CSO) challenges, predict future performance, determine capacity, and recommend improvements to increase the efficiency of sewer systems.

Comprehensive Hydraulic Modeling of Sewer Systems
ECE is part of the consulting team that developed Dynamic Hydraulic Sewer Models for Washington Sanitary Suburban Commission using InfoWorks CS software. We processed data for various components involved in modeling in GIS format, corrected erroneous data from record drawings and evaluated additional data needs. We evaluated the sewer system capacity for the Dry Weather (DWF) and Wet Weather (WWF) events. Rainfall dependent inflow and infiltration (I/I) were evaluated using SHAPE program. ECE engineers also assisted in preparing technical reports documenting the procedures followed to develop, calibrate, and verify sanitary sewer system model
Rehabilitation and Upgrade
ECE has experience with BNR study. Our clients utilize our knowledge of wastewater treatment methods to assess operations and process capabilities and to plan capital improvement programs for wastewater treatment facilities. Combining our experience in wastewater technologies with the familiarity with regulations, we have assisted clients to meet their goals in a timely manner.
Pumping Station and Forced Main
ECE has experience in designing pumping stations and force mains. We have performed calculations to establish baseline hydraulic data that may be used for the evaluation of pumping system at pumping stations.

Operation and Maintenance Support
ECE has the capability and experience in providing maintenance support at wastewater treatment facilities. We have assisted clients to compile operating and maintenance manual.

DC WSA
ECE assisted the client in the preparation of an interactive, electronic operation and maintenance manual. Field surveys to collect equipment information to create contents necessary for the manuals that included equipment inventories, ID (tag) numbers, and operation details; collection of all pertinent existing documents and distribution of copies that include drawings, vendor submittals, and specifications; checking the accuracy of drawings and documentations against current status in the field, and providing updated information were a few of the tasks performed. Other various tasks included drawing revisions, conducting photo surveys of the pertinent equipment, and investigating and troubleshooting any problems encountered.
Sediment and Erosion Control, River Hydraulics & Site Analysis
We have prepared a Sediment and Erosion Control Plan for sites to be implemented during site activities.

Pedestrian Bridge over Southwest Branch
Capitol Heights, Maryland
ECE designed a 178-foot span bridge across the Southwest Branch at Walker Mill Regional Park. Meeting the owner representative to review the scope of work and all existing conditions, reviewing and determining project requirements for all necessary permits, establishing contacts with all necessary regulatory and permitting agencies, and ultimately securing approval of all necessary permits were a few of the tasks performed. ECE identified all potential utility impact and contacted the utility owner for appropriate action. The bridge met all the requirements of the American with Disabilities Act (ADA); we designed the bridge, abutments, wing walls, and slope protection/rip-rap. The bridge met all local, state and federal applicable codes and ECE obtained the required permits. We also prepared construction documents (plans and technical specifications) for bid packages. The specifications included “sections” pertinent to all work to be executed and materials to be used in the construction. ECE assisted the owner in responding to questions and clarifying the intent of the plans and specifications as well as performed a full flood plain analysis. The Sediment and Erosion Control Plan was prepared to be utilized during the construction of the bridge including the associated Grading Plan and Stormwater Management Plan.

A detailed plan shows the proposed site where the grading was developed. In addition, ECE prepared an erosion and sediment control plan. The plan highlighted the proposed contours on the existing contour, the location of sediment control devices, and other pertinent details. ECE applied for the permit for the grading and sediment & erosion plan. Our company prepared drawings and specifications for grading, stormwater and environmental services.
